We believe we are a fan of the local mead | Photo by @wanderingbardmeadery
It is finally fall, all of you – and you know what else is around the corner? Cold season. ??
Many of us know that honey can help relieve some of these allergy + cold symptoms, or at the very least sweeten a hot drink – corn the more local, the better. So to conclude National Honey Month (aka september), let’s talk about local honey.
The basics:
Where to find raw + natural honey? Situated in Travelers are resting is the Caroline’s Bee Company. You can stock up on their raw honey + other honey themed items like creamy honey, honey hand soap, honey glazed pecans, etc. We personally always have a bottle of their honey in our pantry.
Drink:
Another of our favorite ways to enjoy honey is in the form of mead, and if you haven’t already, you can add a trip to Wandering Bard Meadery (located in Hampton Station) to your fall bucket list.
If you didn’t know or if you never had it, mead is an alcoholic drink made from fermenting honey with other ingredients. Wandering Bard Meadery has a range of meads, from traditional to fruity including spices – enough choice that there is surely something to soften your senses.
Gentle personal care:
If you are looking for my dear, mead, and honey body products in the same place, then take a stroll down Main Street to Savannah Bee Company. They have a mead bar with tastings, a bar of honey, and a variety of wellness + beauty products with honey.
And a pro tip for fall, a little local honey added to some local bourbon and Cider makes a delicious fall treat.
