Recently lipstick has been flying off the shelves (it’s only now back in stock), thanks in part to its viral moment on TikTok last month. But like the classic MAC Ruby Woo, this lipstick is a legend in the beauty community. After making its debut in 1971, it quickly became a staple in every makeup bag and has since become the brand’s best-selling lipstick. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what shade I was before putting it on. He looks so dark, almost gothic. But after wearing the lipstick, I couldn’t believe how neutral the color was to my skin tone. It turned a little more pink than purple, which is in my area of ​​favorite lipstick shades. You can easily accentuate the color by applying multiple coats or keep it more natural with less application. The color is so flattering and not at all what I expected – when I saw the bold pigment I was nervous (especially because I’m not a lipstick grande dame!) But it was was just the perfect amount of color and matches everything. I also loved that the color of the lipstick is buildable, so when I put it on before going to dinner I put on a few extra layers, and for everyday use I just slipped it on. Once. Although it is transparent, I wouldn’t say lipstick is “buildable”. Brushing it on made my lips shinier, but it didn’t give a deeper color. That said, it’s not overly tacky and is almost hydrating – I can see how much of a fan favorite it is.
