Lacombe County Business Approved for Spring, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Markets

A central Alberta honey company is planning a series of craft markets.

The Gull Lake Honey Company received approval from the Lacombe County Municipal Planning Commission on Thursday for a spring yard sale and craft market, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas craft and craft markets. The dates for the events have yet to be announced.

Gull Lake Honey Company is owned by Lorne and Alida Prins and is located on the east side of Gull Lake near McLaurin Beach and New Saratoga. The honey producers operate a year-round artisanal gift shop offering products such as beeswax candles. They also have a petting zoo and run tours.

Lacombe County lead planner Cajun Paradis said the markets will be held at the existing honey house. They were allowed to accommodate up to 600 people in the markets.

Paradis said other seasonal craft markets have been held on the property since 2020 and there have been no issues.
