For Michelle Wang, owner of Kasai Hibachi Sushi and Bar in Colleyville, the restaurant is more than just an entity under its name, it’s a challenge. Using his passion for food and his experience in the restaurant industry, Wang, who is also a co-owner of a Thai and Vietnamese restaurant in Forney, set out to bring this Kasai place back to life after the have purchased during the pandemic.

Wang acquired the Colleyville restaurant from a couple during the pandemic. She said Kasai Hibachi Sushi and Bar was not in the best shape at the time.

“[So] I was lucky enough to jump on it and somehow prove to myself that I can do it. And I want to overthrow this place, ”Wang said.

Now as the head of the restaurant, Wang said that she only uses high-quality fresh meat and fish for dishes, like the Colleyville Roll, which consists of shrimp tempura, avocado, crab salad. and spicy mayonnaise. However, Hibachi, a Japanese technique of grilling meat, vegetables and rice on a large flat-top grill, remains the most popular attraction among customers, Wang said.

“The food tastes really good on the grill, especially right off the grill, steaming,” she said.

The menu has also expanded to include Thai dishes from Wang’s Thai and Vietnamese restaurant in Forney. Wang said the additions have received good feedback.

With the Thai and Vietnamese restaurant in Forney and this Japanese restaurant operational in Colleyville, Wang said she hopes to open a Chinese restaurant in the near future.
